Glows and Grows

Today’s October 31st which means it’s Halloween. I don’t really celebrate it but I know that many others do. The title “Glows and Grows” means that I will be investigating all aspects of my growth and process during this project.

Glows:
1) During this process, how have you progressed in...

  • technology? I am definitely not much of a techie but I was able to figure out how to do all that I needed on the computer.
  • writing? After writing the proposal, pitch, and the numerous blog posts, I think that I have been consistent in my style of writing. I would like to improve in my vocabulary so that my use of words can be interpreted better.
  • public speaking? The 60 second pitch really made me understand that I should be more comfortable on stage. It also taught me how to speak under pressure while within a time limit.
  • creativity? To be honest, coming up with a project idea was hard, especially with all the freedom we were given. Now, I am able to think more broadly and am able to come up with creative titles for my blog.
  • time management? With the blog post every Tuesday, I have been able to figure out a way to finish all my homework and research on my project. This project will help develop a good sense of time management for me.

Grows:
1) Areas that I still need to grow in...

  • writing- Writing isn't one of my strongest points but I do enjoy it. It is something in which I have lots to explore and learn about.
  • public speaking- I don't have stage fright but we all are at least a little nervous when it comes to public speaking. The 60 second pitch was especially nerve-racking because the whole entire class was grading it based on your performance.
  • time management- Even though my time management has greatly improved since the beginning of the year, I would like to see how much better my products would be if I could use my time wisely.

2) Have you stepped outside your comfort zone? Why or why not?
I believe I haven't fully stepped out of it yet. For the interview I hesitated when finding someone to interview. I ended up interviewing my uncle which means that I am still mostly based in the comfort zone. I think that this project will really open up a lot of different opportunities for us to step outside our comfort zone. By the end of the year I hope that I will be comfortable with conversing with people that I don't know and not being nervous about it.

What did you do this week and what are your next steps?
This week I have researched on the history and origin of vegetarianism which will be posted next week if the plan does not go off course. I have a couple of ideas on what to do next week. I think that I should find a couple vegetarian-friendly recipes because that would be quite fun to blog about. Besides that, I hope that I can start planning my meals. It does seem a bit early but I would like to get a head start. I also would like to start on the journal that will be used during the month. With all of these things done, I will be set for my thirty days as a vegetarian.

Photo
This time it is not a photo of me. It is of some calligraphy that I drew related to Halloween. If you can't read it it says "WITCHES" in a crazy font that I free-handed.
